Large Fratelli Fanciullacci attributed pitcher – Italian ceramic – 1960s

Large Italian ceramic covered pitcher, attributed to Fratelli Fanciullacci, characterized by a sculptural silhouette and a stylized horse decor.

Its slender olive green body features a deliberately textured surface, typical of certain Italian modernist productions from the post-war period. The decor combines freehand black horses, silver-grey highlights, and geometric friezes outlined in red and white.

The composition is particularly expressive: the long, voluted black handle echoes the raised spout, while the domed lid features the same contrasts of materials and colors. The whole possesses a strong sculptural presence, halfway between a utilitarian object and a decorative piece.

The underside bears the inscription "ITALY" as well as an old handwritten label "1366/1".

Through its surface treatment, stylized animal decor, palette, and formal vocabulary, this piece can be attributed to the Fratelli Fanciullacci manufacture, active in Montelupo Fiorentino and particularly renowned for its modernist ceramics with graphic and figurative decors. Several productions from the manufacture exhibit similar stylistic characteristics.
