Vintage Pair of Gold Metal and Marble Bird Bookends – Art Deco
A pair of vintage bookends depicting two birds in flight, made of bronze and gilded patinated metal and mounted on elegant white marble bases.
The two birds face each other in a particularly decorative symmetrical composition. Their widely spread wings and body movement give a lot of dynamism to the whole, while the stylized plant decoration accompanying each bird adds a beautiful Art Deco touch.
The metal has a dark patina enhanced with gilded details that highlight the plumage, wings, and different reliefs of the sculpture. Each piece rests on a thick rectangular base of naturally veined white marble.
The set is in very good overall condition. Some slight marks and variations in patina are present, consistent with the age and vintage character of the pair and visible in the photographs.
Dimensions of each bookend: 12 cm high, 11 cm wide, and 7 cm deep. Weight 600 grams each.
A very beautiful decorative pair, ideal for framing a few books in a library or adorning a desk, console, or shelf, and bringing an elegant vintage and Art Deco touch to an interior.
