Deknudt Lighting

A Belgian lighting company since the 1950s

Deknudt lighting fixtures come from a Belgian family business founded in 1956 by Armand Deknudt. Located in Belgium, the factory specialized from its beginnings in the creation of decorative lighting, combining artisanal know-how and industrial production.

Initially known as Lustrerie Deknudt, the company developed production focused on noble materials such as brass, metal and sometimes marble, characteristic of lighting fixtures from the second half of the 20th century.

👉 Not to be confused with Deknudt Mirrors, which specializes in mirrors: these are two distinct companies.

Production typical of 60s to 80s design

Deknudt lighting fixtures are part of the major trends in post-war European design.

These include:

  • table lamps
  • floor lamps
  • wall lights
  • pendant lights

These creations are distinguished by:

  • the use of brass and gilded metal
  • elegant and balanced forms
  • modernist and sometimes late Art Deco influences
  • a style that is both decorative and functional

The company is still active today, and it is the productions from the 1960s to the 1980s that are most present on the vintage market.

Signatures and identification of Deknudt lighting fixtures

Deknudt lighting fixtures can be identified by several types of markings, generally located under the base or near the electrical system:

  • “Deknudt”
  • “Deknudt Belgium”
  • “Lustrerie Deknudt”
  • original label or sticker

In some cases, no mark is visible, making identification more complex and relying on style and manufacturing quality.

How to recognize a Deknudt light fixture?

Identification is usually based on the presence of the label, which makes it quite simple. Without a label, there may be other elements:

  • presence of a "Deknudt" or "Belgium" mark inlaid or molded into the assembly
  • use of brass or gilded metal
  • typical 60s-80s design
  • European manufacturing quality

The style is often sober, elegant and decorative, with particular attention paid to proportions and materials.

Value and market for Deknudt lighting

Deknudt light fixtures are now well established in the vintage design market.

As an indication:

  • small table lamps: €50 to €150
  • large table lamps: €150 to €350
  • floor lamps: €150 to €500
  • wall sconces: €60 to €200
  • more elaborate models or design collaborations: €200 to €400+

Prices vary according to:

  • condition
  • materials (brass, marble, etc.)
  • design
  • rarity

Still accessible but sought-after production

Unlike some major design houses, Deknudt light fixtures remain relatively accessible today.

This makes them an excellent opportunity for:

  • vintage design enthusiasts
  • collectors
  • interior design lovers

They fit easily into contemporary or vintage interiors.
