Pair of Art Deco ibex bookends in patinated spelter and veined marble, 1930s

Pair of Art Deco ibex bookends in patinated spelter and veined marble, 1930s

€120,00

Elegant pair of Art Deco bookends depicting stylized rearing ibexes, resting on a veined marble base.

The sculptures are made of spelter with a brown and gilded patina, typical of French productions from the 1930s. The treatment of volumes, taut lines, and the stylization of the animal perfectly reflect the Art Deco aesthetic.

The bases are made of natural marble with beautiful beige, cream, and pink veining, providing a refined contrast with the metallic patina.

Each piece is hollow (made of cast spelter), which explains their metallic sound when handled, a normal characteristic for this type of object.
